Frequently Asked Questions - Laser Hair Removal

Am I eligible for treatment?

  • If the hair on your face and/or body is dark, YES you are eligible for treatment.

  • If the hair on your face/body is white, grey or blonde, unfortunately due to the lack of pigment in the hair treatment will not be effective for you.

Can your Laser treat all skin tones?

  • YES! The Gentle Max Pro by Candela allows us to safely and effectively treat all skin tones.

How many treatments will I need?

  • This number will vary from person to person. A minimum course of six to eight treatments is recommended, although this number can increase if you are someone who struggles with hormonal imbalances caused by illnesses such as, but not limited to Endometriosis and PCOS.

How do I prepare for my treatment?

  • Before coming in for your first Laser Hair Removal treatment it is important that you fully shave the area to be treated a day or two prior to your appointment.

How often should I have Laser Hair Removal?

  • Initially you should come in for treatment every 4 to 6 weeks until you see good clearance. After this, we can space the appointments out to suit your individual needs.

Will it hurt?

  • No, Laser Hair Removal using the Gentle Max Pro device is very comfortable. There may be the occasional ‘snapping’ sensation, however throughout the treatment we use a cooling machine that blows cool air on the skin surface to maintain your comfort. Clients who have had IPL in the past find this treatment extremely comfortable in comparison.

Can I go in the sun if I’m having treatment?

  • We cannot treat over any active tan - real or fake. Keep the area out of direct sunlight for a week post treatment. Use SPF daily - ESPECIALLY if you are treating an area of the face.

Laser during pregnancy?

  • Unfortunately we do not treat clients who are pregnant. If you have come in for treatment and soon after found out you are pregnant please do not worry, there is no evidence to suggest Laser would harm the baby, we do not treat during pregnancy as it is best to walk on the side of caution. You may resume treatment post birth, however, if you are breastfeeding it is best to wait until after.

Will my results be effected by pregnancy?

  • Yes - it is likely that you will have some re-growth of hair during pregnancy and breastfeeding as the body is flooded with hormones. If you have completed your full course of treatments this resurgence will most likely be very minor. If you are midway through treatment, some hair will likely grow back, however it is unlikely that all of it will reappear.
